💡 Tip

Recipe for Portuguese poppy seed cake:
125g blue poppy seeds
150ml milk
125g butter
250g sugar
1 tbsp vanilla flavor
2 eggs, separated
200g flour
1 packet of baking powder
Powdered sugar for dusting

Grind the blue poppy seeds in a mortar, add them to the milk and bring to the boil. Let it soak for about an hour.
Mix the butter with the sugar until fluffy. Stir in the egg yolk, vanilla flavor and the poppy seed mixture.
Mix flour with baking powder and knead with the remaining ingredients to form a dough.
Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff and fold into the dough.
Grease a smaller springform pan or loaf pan. Pour the dough into the mold and bake in the preheated oven at approx. 180`C for about 50 minutes.
Let the cake cool slightly, remove it from the tin and dust it with plenty of powdered sugar.
