The sub-region of Moncao, located in the far north of the Vinho Verde area, is home to one of the oldest (founded in 1958) and today the most modern wine cooperatives in Portugal. The Adega Cooperativa Regional de Moncao produces year after year, in addition to the light Danaide, the mostly awarded Muralhas and the varietal Alvarinho Deu La Deu.
Vinho Verde (Green Wine) is named after its growing area and not its color. This Portuguese wine specialty captivates with its liveliness and freshness, as well as with its lightness and elegance. The unique "tingle" comes from a second fermentation process. In this natural carbon dioxide is produced and makes the wine mild and digestible.
DOC Vinho Verde comes from the Minho region of Portugal and only one wine from this region is allowed. In addition, he has to master several other quality controls and is only then certified by the Vinho Verde Viticulture Commission (CVRVV). The production area is located in northwestern Portugal and is divided into 9 subregions (Melgaco / Moncao, Lima, Cavado, Ave, Basto, Amarante, Sousa, Paiva and Baiao).
