Aromatic, fresh ginger, Zingiber officinale, is an excellent and versatile spice and vegetable the same time. It is spicy and aromatic. Indeed, it will refine meat and vegetable dishes but does its trick on some desserts, too.
On the other hand, it is used as a tea, soft drink, in beer, or as a medicinal plant.

Zingiber officinale is a wonder tuber, or if many, wonder tubers, as we call it, can be used as an all-rounder and has not only a very special taste.
The inconspicuous spice is a true firework of essential oils and should not be taken in underestimation since it is very pungent.
Ginger tuber's spicy triggers are the so-called gingerols and shoagrols.

The contained borneol and cineole has many effects, such as:
A digestive effect and can improve your stomach, it is capable to stimulates your appetite as well as your body's blood circulation.

The ginger rolls - the rhizomes, to be exact - are dug out by hand.

TIP
The light peel is most comfortable to scrape off with a teaspoon, if necessary.
For many recipes it is recommended, to merely use a grater.
This way you'll receive the best freshly grated ginger in the desired amount.

Recipe for ginger tea
1. For the classic ginger drink, rub off a small amount of a thumb-sized ginger piece along with a teaspoon of black or green tea.
2. 2. Please put everything in your tea strainer.
3. Pour over about 300ml ( ≙ 10.14 US Oz.) of boiling water, and let it brew for 5-10 minutes.
4. Refine the tea taste with fresh lemon juice. Orange juice goes as well.
You could sweeten it up with honey, as desired.

Ginger as an ornamental plant
Our ginger rhizomes are natural and have enough sprouting power.
Cut yourself about three to five centimeters wide ginger pieces and put them with the cut surface down in the potting soil.
Please leave a small piece of the rhizome out.
Cut out the piece you want to put into a warm space and keep it moderately moist.
Under this conditions, the ginger most likely will grow quite fast.
Please pay attention to the following fact; ginger is not frost resistant.

Storage of ginger tubers
Cool (moderate only! Don't frost it), dark and dry.

Shelf life of ginger
Fresh ginger is most likely about four up to 6 weeks storable.
