Latin: Cardamomi Fruct. Organic dead.
Botanical: Elettaria cardamomum (L.)

Cardamom is a popular spice in Asian cuisine. Kar damom is used in cakes and pastries, in Christmas baking and in mulled wine.
Cardamom also has a permanent place in Indian chai tea, which is becoming increasingly popular here.
Cardamom is sweet and has a fruity, refreshing spiciness surrounded by camphor and eucalyptus.
The seeds contain an essential oil that gives them a spicy, sweet and spicy aroma. Since it evaporates easily, you should prefer whole capsules to cardamom powder, which looks similar to cinnamon, and only crush or grind the seeds when necessary.

The fruit capsules are harvested by hand shortly before they are ripe, making cardamom one of the most expensive spices alongside saffron and vanilla.
The larger and greener the fruit capsules are, the more expensive the spice can be sold.
