Our Cashews are harvested ripe and sun-dried.

Why are our cashews treated with steam?

The cashew, in its natural state, is covered by a hard, inedible nutshell.

The edible nut itself is layered in with dark brown skin.


Steam processing of the nutshell and the nut takes place before further processing.

This brief heating of the nutshell largely neutralizes the strongly acid peel oil.


The peel oil would immediately chemically burn the worker's skin, who come in contact with the oil.

The steam treatment spares the workers of many wounds, which can cause throughout the cracking process.

Ad if the white liquid comes into the eyes, it can even lead to blindness.
