The Valentia Late Orange is ideal for juicing.

Do not be disappointed if the oranges have built up chlorophyll.
The chlorophyll is nothing else than the green color of the leaves, and it refers to a class of natural dyes formed by organisms that photosynthesize.
The greenish peel color of oranges shows off if oranges had been plentily sun-exposed.
So keep in mind, a greenish peel is a typical and an all natural reaction of oranges which have been "kissed" by the sun.
Please note, the fruits take over one year to ripen on the tree.
So imagine the situation after 18 months: After this time on the tree, the oranges might not look that pretty by their peel's appearance, because the fruits hung there all the time and had a wind and weather exposure.
But only then, they are ripe and have a soft peel.
They yield to a hand's pressure after the long, hot summer and the pulp is wonderfully sweet and juicy.
They are the first choice for making fresh pressed orange juices!

The Valentia Late is mostly suitable for juicing.
The partition skin, between the fruit slices of the Valentia Late, is slightly more stable than the ones of the sister orange, the navel orange.

The peel of the Valentia Late is quite firm and well attached to the fruit's body.
Depending on the season, a natural discoloration within the peel is possible.
This discoloration can range from a light yellow to orange.

It can become even greenish, but that happens mostly just on the Orange's top.
At high temperatures in summer, the peel dries out a bit and tend to look like "old skin".
However, the peel protects its valuable contents very well.

Everything starts with the harvest in April, where the fruit can still taste slightly sourish.
But the taste does depend fully on the fruit's harvest month.

Oranges become constantly sweeter, as long as they can stay on the tree.
In July to October, there is almost no fruit acid recognizable.

Quinta cultivation, the fruits come from our own farm.

Our fruits are not conserved, are not sorted by size (therefore ideal for the small or big appetite) and correspond to the commercial class, HKL II.

Depending on the variety, our citrus fruits ripen on the tree for up to one and a half years.

Good to know about our oranges
This goes for oranges and other citrus fruits, as well - the peel's color says nothing about the degree of ripeness!

So please forget the idea of: "A nice orange must be yellow-orange!"
That is simply not true and is a completely wrong idea, which was mainly given to us thanks to the chemical color processing, which the big supermarkets will do.
That is kind of a consumer betrayal and a betrayal of all our health.

The color depends on the temperature difference between day and night while the fruits are still hanging on the tree.
Through cool nights during the winter months, they receive their bright orange color from mother nature.
Depending on how the weather is with here at our Farm in Portugal, our citrus fruits can still have a green tint but will be still juicy and tasty anyway.
So remember, when something does not look perfect but tastes great, it was mother natures doing.
After harvesting, the peel of the conventional citrus fruits is often dyed in special dyeing plants to make them look all equal and beautiful in the store.
We do NOT perform this chemical treatment!
Our fruits grow all-natural, and will be kept all-natural all the way through until they land on your dish as your food!

Our Tipp to strengthen your body

Have a juice fasting day!
This is a tried and tested method for relieving and purifying the whole body.
A one-day short cure.
This relieves the digestive system and the capillaries, strengthen the heart and can regulate your blood pressure.
Mix one liter of freshly squeezed citrus juice with one liter of good water.
Drink this mixture throughout the day.
It is very important to still drink water (at least 1 liter) in between.
This fasting day is suitable for all people.
If you have limited health, please talk to your doctor or alternative practitioner about it.
A juice fasting day is generally recommended once a week.

Many times people keep telling us and write to us:
Citrus fruits have two crops and will be harvested two times a year!
This is a fairy tale and NOT True at all!
The truth is, and that is depending on the variety, the fruits need much longer to grow.
They take between minimum 8 months and up to 18 months from flowering to a ripe fruit.

❤ "What are our fruits?" - an expectation guide - IMPORTANT information ❤

To be clear,
the citrus fruits that we ship to you, are generally not available anywhere else besides trough us.
This is seen regarding their level of ripening.
Our fruits are sold ripe, unlike the regular ones you can buy everywhere, which are not ripe at all.
We grow our oranges this without any irradiation, fumigation, and preservation.

And for this done for many good reasons.
As a producer, we lose a not inconsiderable fruit amount of our production through late harvesting.
One or the other fruit may not be able to survive the transport.
You might see the tight gradation between ripe fruit and natural process of degeneration.
The taste, however, will surely convince you!
There is nothing you can compare with a good ripe and all-natural orange.
Be aware that you order ripe, natural fruits here, which can't be stored a long time but will bring the true orange taste to your palate.

And it must be also said, you would buy such deli's at the Supermarket – our fruits are not industrial goods!


We do not fight every louse that leaves its honeydew on some fruits.
Please bear in mind, mother nature doesn't grow perfect looking fruits, but tasty ones.
Therefore we declare our fruits with the Commercial Class: "HKL II".
From our experience, we know that most fruits are arriving our customer's door's step in good condition.

Our transport by truck is cool and dry.
The shipping will be performed at 6-8 ° C (≙ 42,8 °F – 46,4 °F) refrigerator temperature.
